Poetry from the Heart

I have been writing Poetry for as long as I can remember, all the way back to elementary school (wow that was a LONG time ago). I am really proud of even my most dullest poems and I think that others will enjoy them also so if you feel like looking at some of my poems feel free to comment. Please do not share re-post my poetry without my permission as they are my treasures and it would kill me to know someone else is claiming my work as their own (not that anyone would but it is a fear I have). Each link will take you to a new poem, I thought it was better than a LONG post with all of them. Eventually I will group them based on what type of poem (romantic/deep etc) but maybe not who knows. The only reason I can recollect when these were written is because I dated them all in my Poetry book and I also wrote some blurbs about the poems in my book (but not all of them).

===================================================

Lost Love

This poem was written when I was in high school and thought I knew what love was. I had to move away from town and long distance relationships are never healthy and so I had to let him go, at the time it was hard picturing a live without him.

Forbidden Love

This poem came some time after Lost Love. I still cared deeply for the boyfriend I had to leave behind but I had starting seeing someone from my new school. I wanted to let go of the one I left behind and move forward but everything reminded me of him.

Forgotten

Everyone goes through dark times and depression, I wrote this in grade seven when I was going through a lot of changes in my life with family and what not

Night Hunt

I honestly do not remember what inspired this, maybe it was something I watched on National Geographic or the Discovery channel but this was written when I was in grade 8.

Peace in the Valley

Another poem that had no real inspiration it just came to me, as many of my poems do. I wrote this either in grade seven of eight.

Reality

This was inspired by my mother, she writes poetry as well and she said that she even though we can spend some of our time in a fantasy world eventually we have to return to the reality of life. I think that our fantasy can often become a reality if we just try. I was 18 when I wrote this.

The Rose

When I was in grade 5 we were given a poetry assignment and we were given a flower to write about so this is what I came up with.

Love Is

This was from a Valentine’s day assignment in grade seven.

Thunderstorms

I was sitting in my bedroom one night, was in grade 7. And we had a a thunderstorm that lasted all night and so I decided to write about it.

Watch the Wolves

No clue what inspired this, I do remember this was from grade 6 or 7 I think.

We are all Known and Unknown

This is one of my more quirky or odd poems, it was a random thought that came to me while sitting in school listening to the teacher go on about who knows what, I wrote this in grade 6.

Sometimes

I had a friend that was going through a really rough patch in their life and so I wrote this poem for them, I framed it and gave it to them as a “cheer up” gift. I think I was in either grade 8 or 9.

Friendship Recipe

This was an assignment from grade 5 or 6. The teacher asked us to write a poem about being a friend. So this is what I came up with.

When?

All I can say about this is teenage drama. My friends all had boyfriends and I was single and this is what came from it. I was in grade 9 I think when I wrote this.

Grandparents

My grandmother passed away when I was about 10 years old and even though we were not close I was devastated about it. I wrote this poem one day while thinking about her, I think I was 12 or 13 at the time of this poem.

To Those

I was in grade 9/10 when I wrote this. I was going through a really hard time and felt as if I was screaming inside and clawing to escape the problems I was facing, we all have those days when we feel so utterly lost that we even feel like our skin is not our.

Children

I had my son when I was 16 and the day he was born my life changed, as children will do. He inspired this poem.

You

Anyways, when my son was about three years old the guy I had been dating for two years, who had been my friend since high school and had known my son since he was an infant, decided he would leave me for a younger woman (she was 16 he was 19 and I was 18-19).

I Am Lost

I wrote this poem in 2002 while I was struggling through a dark time in my life with my family and my personal life.
